The Big Snow — with Pictures!

I live in Northern Virginia, just outside Washington, DC. And today, we are enjoying (or suffering through if you’re of that frame of mind) an enormous snowstorm. I went outside early this morning and took pictures before the snow became super-heavy. As a focal point for a narrative, I used “Mr. Moose,” a figure that sits in my bay window as part of a holiday display.

Mr. Moose in the window before dawn

Mr. Moose watched the weather on TV for a while

He flipped back and forth between Channel 9 ...

... and Channel 4.

Then he went outside ...

and sat in the middle of the street, because he could.

Some neighborhood trees are especially beautiful in the snow.

Mr. Moose decided not to trudge over to the Metro station in the distance.

Mr. Moose said "hi" to Neighbor Eric, who was out shoveling snow, then went inside for the day.

The snow is coming down in sheets now. I may take more photos later, or tomorrow, but not with Mr. Moose.
